Danny at our home in Aston, Pa in 1985 with Jennifer (4) and Marie (6) Lavoro.
Danny & I grew up across the street from one another. He was my best friend for many years. We played baseball and football together in his front yard growing up and then again at Landon along with playing a lot of stickball in the street. We'd watch baseball and play board games inside. Dan was a good hearted, good natured romantic, a real pleasure to be with, a good friend. I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. I remember in high school we were out one night in his Mom's green '51 Plymouth and Danny was driving. There was a light rain and the roads were slick. We were going down Spring Park Rd and came into a curve, then suddenly spun around a complete 360 and amazingly continued on our way like nothing had happened. It still amazes me when I think about it today. Danny was a pretty good pitcher in baseball. I remember he was the only guy I knew of who could throw a knuckleball, a lot of them strikes. I remember seeing that ball bounce around in the air heading toward me at the plate. There was no way you could hit it. We reconnected when I was working for Westinghouse in PA and he was the manager of the Elmira Suns in upstate NY. He came down and spent a few days with us in Aston. I didn't see Dan again until our 50th reunion. After that we stayed in touch until this year when I couldn't get ahold of him by email or phone due to his declining health.

Sorry to see you go way too soon bro. The lights will be dimmer without you that's for sure.
